Hi! Welcome to this week’s Happy List. I’m delighted you are here.
This week on the blog I shared where I’m hiding our router and modem these days. It’s my favorite way yet that I’ve hidden those pesky but necessary devices.
I also shared a blog post from the archives about idyllic moments that I’d like to remember forever.
I say it every week but I mean it all the same, thank you for reading this blog and sharing it with your friends. You can’t share it enough! We also love talking to you. If you want to connect with us, you can always comment on this blog post or send an email here. You can also reach out on Instagram or Facebook.
Here’s what you came for, the Happy List!
TABLED
This space makes a solid argument for a taller table in front of a couch instead of a coffee table. In many ways, it’s more practical.
I usually see this at coffee shops but it’s nice to see this in a home. I also love the bookcase surrounding the door opening.

DINNER TIME
I absolutely appreciate random information like this chart over at Flowing Data that shows when Americans eat dinner. If you want to see the state-by-state breakdown and which state eats dinner the earliest and latest, click here. Both answers surprised me.
By the way, we eat dinner a little earlier than the peak at 6 p.m.

HOUSE RULES
Speaking of dinner, I loved this “house rules” sign posted at Mango’s Wood-Fired Pizza in Mystic, CT. I thought it was a good reminder in general of how to be a good human, especially Rule #3 and Rule #10.
“We all want to have a fun experience. Please do not enter if you’re mad at the world today – pick another day.”
“Our managers can solve problems better today than on social media tomorrow.”
P.S. We had a tasty dinner. I hadn’t had wood-fired pizza in so long! It was a nice change.
LATTICE
If Handy Husband drives, you can bet I’m rolling down my window to take pictures of cool houses.
I saw this house somewhere in Rhode Island and was immediately enamored with its porch. Lattice has never looked so good and it’s all due to those arches.
LOOK AGAIN
This is not what it looks like. Well, it is but it’s embroidered. Yes, embroidered (!) by artist Amanda Cobbett. Can you even?
Cobbett embroiders hyperrealistic fungi, mosses, and lichen and you can see her work on her website or in this article.

MVP OF SUMMER
The MVP of our summer has been these 20-ounce insulated Coleman drink cups. We now have four of them. I’ve left the cup in my hot car all day and there will still be ice in the cup when I get back to the car!
We got ours on Amazon but Walmart sells the same thing for the same price (last I checked). They are around $20 depending on color. Some colors are a little less, some a little more.
P.S. I love the bottle opener feature too. Haven’t used it but I appreciate something functional incorporated into the design.
PEACH GALETTE
I don’t make formal pies, but I do make galettes. It just seems easier to me. This week I made a cherry and peach galette because we had ripe peaches from our peach tree.
Normally, I don’t enjoy cooked peaches but this recipe from Fork Knife Swoon changed my mind.

P.S. As for recipe adaptations, I did not brush my galette with jelly. It wasn’t going to last long enough for “shine” to be an issue. I also used my own go-to pie crust recipe which is from the orange Betty Crocker cookbook. However, I use butter instead of shortening.
GREEN
How do you feel about green cabinets? I’ve seen a lot of them lately. I’m not opposed to them. In some cases, I really like them. I do wonder if any colored kitchen cabinets can remain timeless though.
Either way, this kitchen feels light, airy, and oh-so-pretty. That center table is swoon-worthy.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
“I love borders. August is the border between summer and autumn; it is the most beautiful month I know. Twilight is the border between day and night, and the shore is the border between sea and land. The border is longing: when both have fallen in love but still haven’t said anything. The border is to be on the way. It is the way that is the most important thing.” – Tove Jansson
Thanks for reading today’s Happy List.
Be good to yourself and others this week.
I’ll see you back here on Monday.
