Happy List: #339

gold leaf wood easter eggs on the happy list

Hello! Happy Good Friday and early Easter to those of you celebrating. I’m so glad you’re sharing part of your day with me.

This week on the blog I shared all the ways I have decorated wood Easter eggs. I love those little orbs so much!

I also shared how my porch plants have fared after spending the winter vacationing on my sunporch. The sunporch is a favorite spot around here in the dead of winter for plants and humans because it becomes toasty warm on sunny days.

As always, thank you for being here. Truly. It means the world to us and helps keep the lights on. If you want to connect with us, and I hope you do, you can always comment on this blog post or send an email here. You can also reach out on Instagram or Facebook.

Enjoy this week’s Happy List!

DREAM KITCHEN

I think I found my dream kitchen. Or, perhaps, the elements of my dream kitchen that feel timeless to me. Dark counters, creamy cabinets, wood beam, big windows, rustic table.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO MOVE TO BALI

Loved this interview with Sophie Bell in Domino on what it’s like to move to Bali. It’s a broad brush, of course, but I find details like having a 25 year lease or moving with 14 suitcases to be interesting.

I know from our own experience moving abroad that there’s A LOT of paperwork.

BUNNY TRIVIA

Did you know the first written mention of the word “bunny” as another word for a rabbit came in 1699 in A New Dictionary of the Terms Ancient and Modern of the Canting Crew? This book was the largest compilation, at the time, of slang in England.

No one seems to know why the term bunny came about though. There are theories but there doesn’t seem to be any logical reason for it according to this article in Mental Floss.

BEARS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

Speaking of animals, did you see this image from Woburn Safari Park of bears playing on a swan boat? So. Much. Cuteness.

According to Deputy Head of Carnivores, Tommy Babbington, reportedly said to the BBC that the bears were “immediately intrigued” by the arrival of the swan-shaped peddle boat that the bear keepers put out for them.

Not to distract from the point of this story, but Deputy Head of Carnivores is the best job title EVER.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Do you sleep with a sleep mask that covers your eyes? Handy Husband and I have been using these eye masks (they came in a 3-pack) for just over two months now and I don’t think we’ll go back to sleeping without them.

Handy Husband likes the complete blackout they provide. I like that it’s a signal to my brain to quiet down. We can both blink with the mask on because of the 3-D eye cups. I wash them once a week when I wash the sheets.

I don’t know if a sleep mask will help you, but we’re glad we gave them a try.

BOSTON TYPEWRITER ORCHESTRA

I flat out love that we live in a world where you and your buddies can form a band that plays the typewriter. Why? Why not? In a world that is so darn serious, the Boston Typewriter Orchestra is so strange, delightful, and light-hearted to me.

At about the 1:30 mark, things get really wild. Haha!

ROASTED RED PEPPER CHICKEN PASTA

I made Half Baked Harvest’s Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Pasta minus the chicken last week and everyone ate it without complaint. I know that doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement but that’s a solid win around here!

Handy Husband and I thought it tasted like comfort food.

P.S. For the sauce, I used pistachios instead of walnuts. I served it with a glob (technical term) of burrata on top and that really added to the creaminess of the dish.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“The happiest people I’ve ever met, regardless of their profession, their social standing, or their economic status, are people that are fully engaged in the world around them. The most fulfilled people are the ones who get up every morning and stand for something larger than themselves. They are the people who care about others, who will extend a helping hand to someone in need or will speak up about an injustice when they see it.” – Wilma Mankiller, Chief of the Cherokee Nation

Thank you for reading today’s Happy List.
