Happy List: #279
Hi! Welcome to this week’s Happy List! I hope you are doing well and looking forward to the weekend.
Our local high school is hosting a craft fair this weekend and I’m excited to see what folks have been creating. Last year I found some fun ornaments for the kids there.
This week on the blog I shared some funny, not funny stories from our recent DIY projects. Things happen and you just have to laugh…or eventually laugh. I also wrote about how our autumn is going because I was feeling reflective. Reflection is a good thing, isn’t it?
As always, thank you for continuing to show up here week after week supporting this little spot on the internet. Your engagement here and on Instagram or Facebook is important to us. It feels like a community! Your support truly helps our family, helps restore this old house we live in, and keeps this blog running.
Here’s the Happy List!
SO PRETTY
I thought this butler’s pantry reveal from Sincerely Marie Designs was so pretty. It’s a very warm and calming space, isn’t it?
She has a lot of great tips on how to make stock cabinets look custom. Plus, you really need to see the other side of this pantry! Check it out here.

BELT BAG
I’m adding one of these belt bags or crossbody bags (you can wear it either way) from Etsy to my Christmas list.
Aren’t the suede colors great?
Isn’t it funny how we’ve rebranded fanny packs? It’s a great time to be alive, folks. Ha!

AMAZING
A 14-year-old, Leanne Fan, has won the 3M Young Scientist Award for inventing headphones that treat mid-ear infections with blue light.
The world sees 700 million cases of mid-ear infections and nearly 21,000 deaths annually. This idea could prevent hearing loss in children and reduce the use of antibiotics. (I did not know you could die from an ear infection!)
Bravo to Leanne! Doesn’t this story just fill you with so much hope for this generation’s impact on our world? I hope this idea continues to be successful and comes to market one day. We need more kids like her going into scientific fields!

DIY WREATH
First, I’m jealous that Kim at Shiplap and Shells has a magnolia tree in her yard!
Second, didn’t she make the prettiest wreath? It’s happy and festive. I just love it. Get all of Kim’s tips and tricks here. If you don’t have access to magnolia leaves, I think the idea is still adaptable to whatever you do have on hand.

LEGGINGS
I got this 3-pack of leggings a month ago and have been wearing them on repeat because they are so darn soft.
The black is not see-through. I wouldn’t trust the light grey color though.

P.S. This is not a picture of my lower half.
Hahahahaha!
STAY AWHILE
This image is from Hotel Lilien in Tannersville, New York. Talk about charm! My goodness.
We might need to take a trip to the Catskills this next year.

You can book a stay here.
P.S. Make sure to book me a room too, pretty please!
CHEESY MASHED POTATO WAFFLES
Next week a whole bunch of you are going to have leftover mashed potatoes. Why not turn them into waffles?
I haven’t made this. I don’t even own a waffle maker. However, I can see how it would be really, really tasty.
Get the recipe over at Just A Taste!

You guys are going to get hung up on the fact that I don’t own a waffle maker, aren’t you? Last week, some of you had your minds blown when I said on social media that we don’t have a tv.
There are actually quite a few common kitchen items that I don’t have.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
“To give thanks in solitude is enough. Thanksgiving has wings and goes where it must go. Your prayer knows much more about it than you do.” – Victor Hugo
Thank you for reading today’s Happy List!
Be good to yourself and others this weekend.
I’ll see you back here on Monday.
