Happy List: #110
Hello!
I love it when we meet here like this!
As an update to last week’s Happy List, I didn’t get to read to my son’s class last Friday because we had a snow day delay. Trying again today!
Speaking of my son, he’s been learning to play the recorder at school and on Monday I shared how wrong I was about that whole experience.
Then on Wednesday I discussed a quick, easy DIY for my daughter’s souvenir pin collection.
Here’s the List O’ Happy!
TOOTSIE EGGS
I need you guys to do me a favor. It involves candy, so don’t argue!
The next time you are at the store, buy a bag of Tootsie Eggs from the Easter candy section. I need to know what you think of these candies.
I have been watching people all over Instagram raving about these eggs, so of course, I had to see what all the hype was about. I don’t even like Tootsie Rolls normally. These might change my mind though.
FLOWERS IN A TRUCK
This photo by Jen at Rambling Renovators is the sweetest spring decoration idea I’ve seen in while!

If you click over to her blog she shows you the technique of how she arranged the flowers so beautifully.
TEENS RESCUE BOY
I’m sure you’ve seen this video already, but what a neat story with a happy ending. If the video doesn’t load, here’s the link.
PEGBOARD HEADBOARD
This photo is from 2012, but I hadn’t seen it until this week!
A headboard made from pegboard would be really inexpensive and functional too. The tutorial can be found at Our Fifth House.

COMPETITOR KEEPS BOOKSTORE OPEN
Another feel good story for you. Can you tell I’m tired of all the crud in the world and I just want to hear about stuff that boosts my spirits?
The Washington Post reported about a bookstore that had to close (The Book Catapult) because the owner needed heart surgery. When his competitor’s found out, they gathered volunteers together to keep the store open and running. Do you know how amazing that is?

PAPER TOWEL HOLDER
I can’t decide how I feel about this paper towel idea. That’s what I’m looking at, right?
I don’t always use and/or like to look at paper towels, so I’m conflicted.
It’s clever though.
For more ideas like this one, visit Studio Dearborn. I was most impressed with all the under-the-sink ideas! So many good ones.

YELLOW TULIPS
While you’re out getting Tootsie Eggs treat yourselves to some yellow tulips too!
You can put them in a burlap bag and call them a pot of gold for St. Patrick’s Day, or just put them in a vase and enjoy how bright and happy yellow tulips are!
Burlap Bag Pot of Gold tutorial here.
FIELD GUIDE TO UPSTATE NEW YORK
Domino has an article titled A Design Lover’s Field Guide to Upstate New York. It’s a good one, folks.
On their list of places to stay is Deer Mountain Inn.
My bags are packed…

A BEAUTIFUL SENTIMENT
Cheryl Strayed, the author of Wild, used to have an advice column that is now a podcast. In 2011, she wrote an eloquent response to a person who was trying to decide if they wanted to have children. The very last paragraph of her response was this and I thought it was beautifully worded:
“I’ll never know and neither will you of the life you don’t choose. We’ll only know that whatever that sister life was, it was important and beautiful and not ours. It was the ghost ship that didn’t carry us. There’s nothing to do but salute it from the shore.” – Cheryl Strayed
Happy Friday!
Until we meet again, you can definitely find me on Instagram and Pinterest.
My favorite Instagram photo this week was of all my favorite people walking across a rainbow crosswalk. I wish all crosswalks looked that bright and happy!
Sometimes I make an appearance on Facebook too. Thanks for all your likes and pins, it definitely helps a girl out!
