Vintage Toolbox Flower Arrangement For Fall

The only thing better than a vintage toolbox is a vintage toolbox with flowers in it! If you want a big bang for your flower arranging buck this fall then create a vintage toolbox flower arrangement.

Let’s face it, we all want our buck to go a little farther these days.

The rustic vibe of a vintage toolbox lends itself really well to this fall season where we are all about getting cozy.

I’m sure fall can be fancy but, in my head, I associate fall with things that are a little more rustic and earthy like apple orchards, haybale rides, warming hands around a firepit, crunchy leaves on the ground, and porches decorated with pumpkins and mums.

Give me a vintage toolbox to work into that list and I’m set!

So if you have a vintage toolbox or you find one while thrifting that calls to you, just know that they are versatile and practical vessels. From tools to toys and flowers to flip-flops, they can hold just about anything.

I made my vintage toolbox flower arrangement using only $20 of grocery store flowers (4 bunches of mums and Alstroemeria) and clippings from my yard.

While the flowers bring the color, the key to keeping this budget-friendly is the yard clippings. I used decorative grasses that were growing in my yard as filler to give the flower arrangement oomph so that I didn’t have to buy so many flowers from the store.

Now, I know you’re probably wondering why I didn’t put this lovely floral arrangement on a table. Any table. I must have tables in my house, right?

I do. Several, in fact.

There was just one problem.

My vintage toolbox happens to be very large. It’s about 30 inches long. It’s so big, especially with the flowers in it, that it looked ridiculous on our dining room table that seats six. The proportions were all off.

I might not have a ballroom-sized dining table that can hold this vintage toolbox floral arrangement but I do have a non-functional fireplace in my bedroom that was just begging for some fall color.

I’m not using the toolbox for its originally intended purpose so I might as well keep breaking rules and put flowers in front of a fireplace. Plus, this view makes me smile.

P.S. Everything on our bedroom mantel is thrifted.

The terracotta-colored velvet quilt is from Target.

The blue pom pom throw is from Amazon. I have it in two colors because it is so soft.

The rug is NuLOOM’s Harriet Vintage Medallion Fringe rug in blue.

The faux leather lumbar pillow covers are from Amazon.

The grey recliner is new(ish) and looks pretty but isn’t as comfy as I’d like, so I’m not linking it.
