Thankful for Friends

When we moved back to the U.S. this summer to a place we’d never lived before, I anticipated Thanksgiving would be a quiet affair with just our family of four.

We’ve had several of those quiet Thanksgiving dinners.

I don’t really mind them. The hardest part is to keep the twinge of missing out at bay. Those type of feelings defeat the entire purpose of being thankful.

Then, much to my delight, friends from Georgia said they wanted to spend the holiday with us.

So let me get this right…

These folks want to travel on the busiest week of the year to eat turkey with us?

No one tell them that I haven’t actually cooked a turkey in at least 2 years. I’m sure it’s like riding a bike, right? What could go wrong?!

Furthermore, this is the second year in a row they’ve trekked to see us on this holiday. Granted, we are an ENTIRE OCEAN closer this year, but still. It’s incredible!

My house is busy, full, loud and chaotic. We’re taking turns using one shower. We’re eating, laughing, going on adventures and making memories.

It is just the way it should be.

In short, I am immeasurably THANKFUL for friends and all the people who enrich our lives.

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you. Thank you for encouraging me every single day. It shows me there’s a lot of kindness in this world.

If you’re bored, thankfully I have other posts you can read!
