Happy List: #180

Hello, friends! Welcome back to the Happy List!

Some of you have had a 4-day week. Some went back to school. Some of you have been dealing with all the wildfires in your state. I’ve been thinking of you all.

I spent this week doing one of my least favorite things, making behind-the-scenes tweaks on this website, so thank you for your patience. It has been, shall we say, a character-building experience. I have a few more things to do, so I’m continuing to blog with fingers crossed.

This week I did manage to share a new post about all the things we learned from gardening. I put a lot of thought into how this impacted one of my children’s lives, so I hope I didn’t jinx things and make this child want to give up such a great hobby! I’d better cross another couple of fingers.

Let’s get to the Happy List before I run out of fingers to type with!

Did you read about the farmer in Wisconsin who planted 2 million sunflowers to make people happy?

I love how different this apothecary-style cabinet in End of the Row‘s kitchen looks! Isn’t it amazing? More pictures of her kitchen can be found here.

SmokeyMountains.com just released their 2020 interactive Fall Foliage Prediction Map and it covers the whole U.S.

I had fun checking it out! So if you want to know when leaves will be at their peak color around the U.S., check it out.

This particular page also gave some very straight forward information on why the leaves change color, so it is a good refresher course for kids and adults too.

My mom died unexpectedly at age 52, so a line in this song resonates with me.

“I’m not afraid of getting older. I’m one less day from dying young.”

Who knew plywood walls could look so good?

I think Baked Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts are something we all need in our bellies lives, don’t you?

Kristie of The Sweet and Simple Kitchen is one of the folks I enjoy following the most on Instagram because she has the sweetest spirit. Also, she presses extra chocolate chunks into her cookies right before they are done baking, which is a trick I’m happy to have learned.

“With all that’s going on in the world, it’s difficult to reduce uncertainty. Where we have more control is in raising our tolerance for it. Uncertainty can fuel curiosity and excitement. If life was entirely predictable, it might be surprisingly dull.”

Adam Grant, Organizational psychologist at The Wharton School

That’s it for today’s Happy List!

Thank you for engaging with me here and on Facebook and/or Instagram. It brightens my day every time you do!

I hope you have a great weekend. I’ll see you back here on Monday!
