Happy List: #219

Why, hello! Welcome to the Happy List!

This week on the blog I discussed church pews and homemade freezer jam. That combo makes total sense, right? Ha! You just never know what you’re going to get with this blog!

If you’d like to see what we are up to this weekend, please follow along on Instagram or Facebook stories. If you create something I should see, please tag me! I love to see your ideas come to life. Let me live vicariously through your creativity!

Now here’s the main event – the Happy List!

Sure, modern showers are great, but look at this vintage one! I’m in love.

My house needs this.

I wonder how they sealed the floors? I’m still working on that dilemma in our bathroom with old wood floors.

More pictures of this home (and it is totally worth the click) can be found at Desire to Inspire.

P.S. Handy Husband does not agree with me on our house needing this type of vintage shower basin.

I made this sausage and lentil soup recipe last week and even my picky eater ate it without complaint. It was SO, SO good.

The recipe doesn’t list amounts for the spices, so I used roughly a teaspoon of each per the comments and it was delicious. I also cooked the sausage first, then the veggies in the sausage grease before adding all the rest of the soup ingredients to the pot to simmer.

60 years after writing a letter requesting to be a bat girl at a Yankees game, Gwen McLoughlin finally got her chance.

For so many different reasons, this story warmed my heart.

Current Yankees GM Brian Cashman wrote in a letter to Gwen, “And despite the fact that six decades have passed since you first aspired to hold down the position as a New York Yankees Bat Girl, it is not too late to reward and recognize the ambition you showed in writing that letter to us as a 10-year-old girl.”

See both letters to Gwen from the New York Yankees here.

This desk makeover by Jen at Rambling Renovators is the best I’ve seen in awhile!

It’s amazing how different wood tones affect the look and style of furniture.

I’ve been wearing these shorts under dresses this summer because it makes me feel a little more secure when its breezy. Nothing to see here, folks! Ha!

They aren’t like Spanx where they are meant to suffocate you to death. I think of them more like boxer briefs for women. A 3-pack was $22 on Amazon and they come in different colors.

This is a pretty wreath shared by Town & Country Living! The color of the berries make it feel like a summer wreath, but just as easily could be a fall or winter wreath with orange or red berries.

Junky Encores makes some pretty amazing things with found and repurposed objects like this driftwood sailboat.

I like this idea because it is versatile. You could make it more modern or abstract by changing the background material. You could get the kids involved in searching for the right materials to use. You could turn it into a welcome sign.

“Regard yourself as a cloud, in the flesh, because you see, clouds never make mistakes. Did you ever see a cloud that was misshapen? Did you ever see a badly designed wave? No, they always do the right thing. But if you will treat yourself for a while as a cloud or a wave, and realize that you can’t make a mistake whatever you do. Because even if you do something that appears totally disastrous, it will all come out in the wash somehow or another. Then through this capacity you will develop a kind of confidence. And through confidence you will be able to trust your own intuition.” — Alan Watts

Thank you for reading today’s Happy list!

Be good to yourself and others this weekend.

I’ll see you back here on Monday.
