It felt weird to have a normal blog post on a Monday when it was Halloween, so we’re just keeping things light-hearted here today.
Let’s talk about how we have been celebrating Halloween with older kids. Yes, I said have been.
It’s no longer a one-day event in the good ol’ USA. We, as a culture, do not know the meaning of keeping it simple. We could benefit from chilling out a little, don’t you think?
We took our youngest child to our town’s Trunk or Treat this weekend. He has pretty much aged out of dressing up and trick-or-treating, but he really likes candy. Can you blame him?
Our town’s residents REALLY get into the spirit of things with this Trunk or Treat event.
I’m thankful for people who seem to enjoy going all out decorating their vehicles and spending a hundred dollars or more on candy. It’s giving with the knowledge that you’ll receive nothing tangible in return other than smiles from happy kids. It’s community spirit at its finest.
Today, we’ll partake in some Halloween themed-food.
This past year I’ve cut back on the amount of sugary cereal my kids are allowed to eat. I’m not a complete monster though and for special occasions, I’ll surprise them with a box of full-on sugar cereal. Count Chocula cereal filled up their bowls today. I apologize in advance to their teachers.
For dinner tonight, we will have mummy hotdogs. I regret serving my kids this delicacy (hotdogs wrapped in croissant dough) when they were five because we’ve been eating them every Halloween since. I keep trying to switch up the menu but they aren’t having it.
If you are a new parent please heed my advice and choose your traditions wisely.
You may not know this about Handy Husband but he has recently become interested in Dad Jokes. He has one ready to go almost every night during dinner. I really thought he’d be the one dad to not get into telling Dad Jokes, but this seems to be one of those things where you can run but you can’t hide.
Here are 10 Handy Husband-approved Halloween jokes from all around the Internet that might make you laugh, but probably you’ll just groan!
