Happy List: #166
Hello, hello! In case you missed it, this was birthday week in our house. My kids were born three years and one day apart. Emphasis on the ONE DAY part. Back-to-back birthdays means a lot of cake. On the blog this week I shared the 13th birthday tradition that I had the extreme privilege of carrying on with my daughter. I won’t divulge the details of our conversation, but I’m pretty sure, in good mom fashion, I embarrassed her with my speech. Ha! Any embarrassment aside, it was a beautiful moment and I will treasure it forever. I also shared the vintage game gallery wall that I worked up for…

Hey Everyone! How are you? I only ask that question when I really want to know, so lay it on me. We are still firmly in quarantine lockdown in New Jersey. The only significant restriction that has been lifted is in regard to being able to walk on trails at state parks. However, exercising with a face mask doesn’t seem super fun, especially as the temperatures increase, so we haven’t done it. We will be able to do curbside pick up from non-essential retail businesses starting on Monday. All I really care about is getting a haircut, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. This week I shared the…

Hi! Happy May Day! Thank you to everyone who reached out to wish Handy Husband a happy birthday. He was thoroughly embarrassed and secretly delighted! Someone asked me about his favorite cookies – they are these Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies. It is a recipe that uses a cake mix and they are always a hit. This week on the blog I shared the wood backboard we made for our son’s over-the-door basketball hoop. It has been seeing a lot of action while we’ve been hunkered down at home. Here’s the Happy List! PLINK, PLANK, PLUNK If you watch one thing today, it MUST BE this video by the…

Here we are again! How are you this Friday? We had a trip planned to see family this summer, but ended up cancelling our flights this week. That was hard, but we needed to take advantage of the free flight cancellations being offered. We can always rebook because we have a flight credit now. I’m going to hang on to the hope that it will be safe to travel later this summer, but I’m also not going to hold my breath. In happier news, I published photos of our daughter’s room on Monday. She’s a super chill individual with a bit of an old soul, so a calm, vintage-inspired bedroom…

Hello, hello from my house to yours! This week I shared what a day-in-the-life looks like at our house during quarantine. I also shared the antique dry sink that I’m using as a printer stand! Aside from some future electrical work to get outlets in the right spots, our office space is pretty much done. We did not intend for the space to be used as heavily as it is now, but it is working out great. I’m not sure what we are doing this weekend, but feel free to follow along with our home improvement antics on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest too. More seems to happen there than I can get…

How are you? We are wrapping up four weeks of everyone working and learning from home. My kids have today and Monday off for a shortened Spring Break. Instead of taking an entire week off, our school districted opted for a shorter break, which will allow the school year to conclude earlier. This week I shared a vintage step stool makeover using black stain. I also shared my attempt at a whimsical Easter wreath. Emphasis on the word attempt. We are looking forward to celebrating a quiet Easter at home. I’m hoping for nice weather because we have two acres to hide Easter eggs for the kids. I do not…

Welcome back to another edition of the Happy List. How’s everyone doing? We had a virtual double date via FaceTime with another couple on Monday. A Monday night date! Who are we?! We had this date after the kids went to bed, so there weren’t any kid interruptions. We each brought wine and snacks. They had better snacks though. I did not stock up on chocolate because I didn’t think I should test my willpower during a stay-at-home order. I’m regretting my choice now. This virtual date definitely buoyed our spirits and I encourage you to give it a try. This week I shared everything you might possibly want to…

Welcome to this Friday’s edition of the Happy List. Do all your days feel like Friday now? If they do, I’d say that’s a good thing. It is way better than all the days feeling like Monday! This week I shared my tips if you want to sell a live tree from your yard. That’s really a thing! If you’d rather cut down the tree in your yard, then you must have really liked my live edge side table post on Wednesday. Ha! I didn’t even realize until just now how I basically shared two sides of the same coin on this week’s blog post. There are times when I’m…

Hello! I truly hope you are all staying healthy. We have had an interesting week with everyone at home, but still trying to do work and school. While I am very much aware of and sensitive to what is going on in the world, the blog will continue with business as usual. This is my happy place. I come here because I enjoy writing, sharing our projects and engaging with you. I need that more than ever and I hope you do too. We’ll see how long I can keep things up if we run out of DIY supplies. This week I shared some updates we’ve made on cleaning up…

Well, happy Friday the 13th! It sure is a weird time in the world, isn’t it? I hope you are all staying safe and well. This week I shared how I’m decorating with my mom’s thimble collection. I just love to hear the stories you’ve shared with me about the thimbles you have that belong to your moms and grandmothers. I also wrote about our trip to Avery’s Beverages in New Britain, Connecticut. We love fun, quirky travel experiences like that and I hope you do too. It is Happy List time! I don’t know about you, but I need a big dose of happy! MINTY This home in Mobile,…
