6 Ways To Decorate With Wheat
I looked around our dining room earlier this month and realized it was full of wheat decor, which is definitely better than it being full of…other things. So let’s talk about 6 ways to decorate with wheat this fall. First things first. You can buy dried wheat at many different places such as your local craft store, a floral shop, or online. I’ve even seen dried wheat at farmer’s markets. I have one bunch of wheat from a florist in Ireland. Yes, that wheat came home with me when we moved back to the U.S. How’s that for priorities? I also bought a bunch of wheat stalks on Amazon. Also,…
Halloween Front Porch With Floating Witches’ Hats
It’s almost Halloween! This year I decided to hop on the bandwagon broomstick late and try out the trick with the floating witches’ hats for our Halloween front porch. Now I get what all the fuss is about! Floating witches’ hats skew more playful than gruesome which works for this ghoul gal. By the way, I almost didn’t write this blog post because the grammar is impossible to figure out. Technically, only one witch owns these hats. Me. So should I be saying witch’s hats? Or can I say I own multiple witch hats? Which witch hats are we talking about now? See how confusing it is? I chose to…
October Break
Hi! This week we are taking time off of actual work to do some work on the house before the winter weather blows in. We’ve been waiting half a lifetime (exaggeration is my specialty today) for materials to show up and they finally arrived last week. That means we can dive into fixing something that’s needed to be fixed for ages. Will we get it done this week? Hmm… Well, it’s always good to start out with an optimistic spirit, right? If we don’t encounter anything unexpected then I think it’s possible to get it 95% done. We’ve never started a project here where we haven’t encountered something unexpected, but…
Happy List: #274
Hello! Welcome to the first Happy List of October! Is it just me or did September go by quite quickly? This week on the blog I shared how to make a recessed toilet paper holder. This idea is pretty adaptable if you have a small space and just want a recessed area for extra storage. I also shared another wood acorn craft – a garland! I’m a garland person now, apparently. That’s what those wood acorns have done to me. Am I done making things out of wood acorns? I’m not sure. I told myself I wouldn’t buy any more acorns, but that doesn’t mean I won’t take apart the…
DIY Wood Acorn and Bead Garland
I am mildly obsessed with wood acorns this year. There are so many ways to use them! Today, let me show you how to make a Wood Acorn and Bead Garland. This is going to be so much fun! Supplies Needed to Make A Wood Acorn and Bead Garland: wood acorns wood beads heavy-duty string or twine (I used embroidery floss) drill and drill bit (to drill a hole in the acorns) needle (not necessary, but it makes stringing the beads easier) scissors measuring tape Step 1: Prep the wood acorns for the garland. The wood acorns come without a hole, so you need to create one if you want…
How To Make a Recessed Toilet Paper Holder
Here’s the thing you didn’t know you needed – a recessed toilet paper holder. I’ll try to refrain from using any potty jokes during this blog post. Okay? Now, let’s flush out the reasons why a recessed toilet paper holder makes sense in certain situations, and then we’ll get to the bottom of how to make a recessed toilet paper holder. Number One: A recessed toilet paper holder makes sense for small bathrooms where space is tight or additional storage is needed. Number Two: You just might like how a recessed toilet paper holder looks. Everyone likes to go in a stylish bathroom. The idea for our recessed toilet paper…

Thank you for sticking…
DIY Wood Acorn Napkin Rings
It’s fall, y’all. Let’s DIY some wood acorn napkin rings! Did you know wood acorns were a thing? Bless the woodworkers of the world for creating such a thing I never knew I needed and now can’t imagine living without. Supplies you’ll need to DIY Wood Acorn Napkin Rings: wood acorns wood beads (a pack with varying bead sizes is helpful) elastic cord (I started out with a .5mm cord and that was prone to snapping. A…
DIY Embroidered Vote T-Shirt
Let’s get to a DIY today that involves two important things: embroidery and civic responsibility. Okay, one of those might be more important than the other. I’ll let you decide which is which. Now, let’s make a DIY embroidered vote t-shirt! Even if you’ve never picked up a needle and a thread, you can embroider a t-shirt. Here are the supplies you’ll need to make a DIY Embroidered Vote T-Shirt: t-shirt (if you aren’t sure how this will go, pick an old one you can practice on) needle (I used a regular sewing needle with a large eye) embroidery floss (you might hear it called embroidery thread) embroidery hoop (if you…
Happy List: #272
Hi! Welcome to this week’s Happy List. I’m happy you’re here. This week on the blog I shared how we made our front door look bigger with paint and only paint. Our eye is easily tricked! I also shared how I Annisa-ified (That doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it?) a set of slate coasters I earned with my own sweat and labored breathing after participating in a fun run. Not that I’m melodramatic or anything. Thank you for your continued support of this blog in all shapes and forms. Even engaging with us on Instagram or Facebook is important to us. Your support truly helps our family, helps restore this old…
