Skating: It’s Harder Than It Looks
Right across the street from the Hubby’s office is an ice rink. Not only that, but they have a roller skating rink too. I know, cool, right? So, of course, we had to check it out! We picked Jeff up early from work one Friday afternoon (shhhh!) and headed on over. This was the second time Annika has been ice skating and she LOVES it. Don’t you just love the rosy cheeks and the teeth that still have not come in yet? It was FREEZING in the ice rink. Yes, I suppose freezing temps are to be expected. Seriously though, her eyes just light up when she’s out there. We…
Random Bits of Life
Do you ever look back on your day and know you were busy, but don’t feel like you accomplished much? No? Just me? Shoot! That’s been my week. I try to remind myself that the moments when we are very present in “mother mode,” are just as, if not more important than crossing things off a to-do list. Here are a few of the random things that happened this week: Now that we live in town, there are new rules. One of them is you can’t ride your bike or scooter in the street unless mom or dad is outside with you. Both kids have been good about following this…
Hobby Lobby Heaven
How have I gone all of my 29 *cough, yeah right* years without visiting a Hobby Lobby? How? I have read about people and their glorious Hobby Lobby finds on blogs for years. Years, people! When I’ve been looking for the perfect, inexpensive knobs for a DIY project, I silently cursed the people who had a Hobby Lobby nearby. If Hobby Lobby won’t come to Annisa, Annisa will come to Hobby Lobby. Today after I dropped Tor off at preschool, I programmed by Waze app to take me straight to the closest Hobby Lobby. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, but on the inside…let’s just say, I forgot…
Movin’ On In
Let me assure you. If there was ever a doubt about where you are moving or why you are moving, five days in a hotel with your two kids will, uh, really firm things up in your mind. Go ahead, try it. After countless questions regarding where their toys are on the moving truck, where the moving truck is, are the movers playing with the toys, will they see their toys again and my absolute favorite, can we get all new toys, you will weep with joy when you see the moving truck pull up to your new house. Plus, eating dinner like this while you wait for your stuff…
See You Later!
We handed over our one-way tickets to the ticketing agent and boarded a plane bound for our new home in Georgia yesterday. One. Way. Ticket. It’s a strange feeling to not have a return trip ticket. It’s not good, it’s not bad, but it is weird with a side of “holy crap we are really moving.” Goodbyes make you think. They make you realize what you’ve had, what you’ve lost, and what you’ve taken for granted. – Ritu Ghatourey We’ve known about this move for close to two years. That’s a long time to live in limbo. On one hand, you try to soak up as many moments and make as…
Packing Up
Yesterday the movers showed up bright and early to start packing up our house for the move to Georgia. As soon as they got here, my 3 year old son said right in front of the movers, “Mom, are the humans going to pack up my backpack?” Humans. Niiiice. The movers laughed and said, “we like this kid already.” Yeah. I’m partial to him! The kids were enamored with the cardboard walkways they laid down. I was thrilled there would be less floor damage. I have my priorities! By the early afternoon, the kitchen and garage were all packed up and loaded. Then a different company came to dismantle the…
Hello.
I swore I would never start a blog. In fact, my husband and I would joke when we’d take pictures of a DIY project that they were for my “Never Blog.” So when we decided we were moving from Oregon to the Atlanta area, I thought I should start a blog. You know, to keep the family up-to-date… and to remind myself to never say never. So, here we are getting ready to leave Oregon in T minus 9 days. WOW! I’m currently letting my 3 year old do this so I can write my first blog post. What you can’t see is the vacuum just out of frame. Not…
