Happy List: #136
Hello, hello! This week I’d like to give a shout out to kind neighbors. One of my neighbors, who recently brought me muffins and a mum, stopped by to check on me. She noticed that our American flag was flying upside down and, apparently, that is a sign of distress. She left her car running in her driveway and her door open to make sure I was okay. In our case, it was just a sign of a flag that was long, long overdue to be replaced and had ripped out of the grommets. We violated so many rules of flag etiquette, but rest assured, we will dispose of the…

Hello! We all made it to Friday! I think that deserves a pat on the back. This week on the blog I shared a mushy story. Scratch that. I shared TWO mushy stories. This one about DIY and love and this one about flea market finds and love. The two most important men in my life each had a starring role in these stories. As it should be. Here’s the Happy List! PIONEERTOWN MOTEL I’m dead from the cuteness. (image: Pioneertown Motel) This is the registration office for Pioneertown Motel in California. Back in the day Pioneertown Motel housed movie stars like Gene Autry while they were filming. If you love…

Hey, hey! It’s Friday! The 13th! This week on the blog it was all about the exterior of our house. I shared the surprising way we had a whole bunch of brush removed from our property. That alone probably raised our property value. I also shared my newly painted front gate and how long it took me to paint it. It definitely wasn’t an hour. In other news, I’ve been trying to do more stories on Instagram. I even showed my face this week. Twice. Crazy stuff. If you’re on Instagram, I’d love to connect with you there too. Here’s the Happy List! SWEET POTATO SAUSAGE BREAD KNOTS It is…
Happy List: #133
Hello, everyone! I hope September is treating you well! We’ve survived school thus far. There’s only been one forgotten snack, one forgotten Chromebook, one forgotten Chromebook charger, and one lost form, so I think we’ve really got this school thing nailed. Ha! This week on the blog I shared my trip to Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in Connecticut. I also shared the 1971 MLS Listing for our Colonial Farmhouse. Here’s the Happy List! UNDERWATER DANCING I was mesmerized by this synchronized swimmer’s underwater dance to Chopin. She can hold her breath for 4 minutes! LEATHER WREATH You know I love a good leather project! Go check out this neat wreath…

Hello! Thank you for all the wonderful feedback on our front porch and dining room this week. I hear from folks in a variety of ways and it really does make my day when you take the time to comment or like something I’ve shared. When someone does that for me, I know it didn’t cost them anything, but it did take a second of their time and that’s worth something! So, thank you. Here’s the Happy List! WOODEN SPOONS Well, this is a fun use for a collection of wooden spoons! Photo by Chris Snook – Search home design design ideas COLLEGE This is originally from 2014, but someone…
Happy List: #131
Hey, hey! All my friends in the Southeast have sent their kids back to school and I love those pictures! We still have a couple of weeks before school starts, so plenty of time to procrastinate on getting school supplies. Right?! This week I shared the new and improved pictures of our backyard. I do not miss the fence we took down one bit. I just need to try to sell or giveaway the fencing material now, since Handy Husband was very careful about how he took it apart. I also shared a neat place you need to shop at if you live in or are visiting New Jersey. It…
Happy List: #130
Hello! We’ve reached the part of the summer where my kids are “so bored” that they started reading a dictionary. Then I heard my son say, “Wow, Mom. This is really educational.” I’m sure Daniel Webster himself wouldn’t have the words for this situation. I just shook my head. This week I wrote about how we cleared a sight line to the pool. Come back on Monday and I’ll explain where we found the rocks to make the paths. I also wrote about how I fixed the stretched out toe post on my plastic Birkenstocks. My foot finally healed after that incident and I am still ridiculously pleased that my…
Happy List: #129
Hey, hey! Can you believe it is August already? It feels like summer is flying by. Last week we took time off to hang out with friends visiting from Oregon. We mainly stuck close to home, but we did take a few days to visit Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. This week I shared pictures of our living room and how I turned a dining table into a coffee table. I’ve never had a round coffee table and I’m enjoying the heck out of this one. If you’re curious about our dining situation, we are back to using my original dining table because I have the space for it once again.…
Happy List: #128 – Instagram Edition
Fancy meeting you here! I hope you had a fantastic week. At a minimum I hope you didn’t have a leaky roof like we did. I shared all about fixing our slate roof and the compromises we made on that situation on Monday. I also hope your kid didn’t break a window. I shared about that experience on Wednesday. If neither of those two things happened to you then I think you’ve got something to celebrate! This week’s Happy List is a clean out of my saved folder on Instagram. When I see something on Instagram that inspires me in some way, shape or form I save it for future reference.…
Happy List: #127
It’s finally Friday! Woohoo! Last week I got my new driver’s license. This week I registered the kids for school. Today I’m trying a new hair stylist. I’m on a roll! I’m also terrified because a new person is going to be cutting my wild hair. We are in for another marathon weekend of trying to prep the Carriage House for our first guests coming in one week from today! EEK! Let’s hope Handy Husband can get the water reconnected to the Carriage House. Otherwise…well, let’s not go there. Positive thoughts, people! Positive thoughts! This week I shared more photos of our new home, specifically the doors. I also took…
